The interactive maps "Protected Areas of the Leningrad Region" and "Tourist Sites of the Leningrad Region" are made with the use of cartographic bases produced by TeleAtlas and space photographs of DigitalGlobe, TerraMetrics and NASA. The Google policy of step-by-step replacement of older space photos by newer ones with higher resolution makes it possible to increase, from time to time, the minuteness of the maps.

The data on the PAs borders, as well as brief descriptions of the PAs, have been prepared by the GIS Laboratory of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute. It should be noted that the exact borders of PAs are currently being verified. As new data are obtained, the PAs maps are corrected. Information about the tourist sites was provided by the Committee for Physical Culture, Sport and Youth Policy of the Leningrad Region.
